Hey everyone. I just recently came into the duramax community. Ive always wanted one forever and I finally got the chance and went out and got one. But Im not very familiar with them. I do know that since I got a newer 2012 model they have this DPF filter which im not liking. I hear you can get so much more power and everything by taking them off and deleting them. But I bought my truck used with 20,000 miles so it still has 80,000 miles or 4 years left on the warrantry. Does removing the system totally erase all your warrantry or does anyone know? Cause I would love to just take it off and put a 5inch exhaust on it. Any info anyone has on this would be greatly appreciated.

it will void your warranty. Bottom line, if you want to keep the warranty leave it alone.

I figured it would probably do that. I believe im gonna keep my warranty for as long as possible then do it. Kinda sucks though. It wont let your truck smoke at all. Thanks for the info though.

Between the dpf and urea I took the chance and cut that crap out and put a h&s tuner on it and I love the performance and sound now I just have to pray I won't need that warranty

Haha. No. Its kinda like a sleeper truck. Everyone thinks if it dont smoke it aint got any power. When actually ur pushing around 500hp haha. But Im used to jacked up loud 1500s. I had a 2011 lt 1500 7 and 1/2 lift i traded in for this. It had true duals converter back with glasspacks. I love loud trucks and this thing being so quiet is about to kill me.

Buy an exhaust that deletes that crap and then buy an h&s tuner to tune it which will keep the emission codes from appearing

No, the Bully Dog does not offer DPF delete tuning.

Well..theres $600 down the drain then lol. Thanks for all the info. Im gonna have to look into that stuff. Ive always wanted a diesel for the sound and smoke. And here they had to go and invent this gay DPF stuff. Sucks. You pay enough for the trucks. You think they would let you by a little haha.

Yea I wouldn't mind to do that. But to find a model like that around here with low mileage and good condition your just as good to buy a brand new one cause they still want the same price. By the time I'd get all that done I'd have more time and money invested in that instead of just paying the $1300 for the dpf removal kit I just found. So Idk. I think I may just leavebit like it is for a while and see how it's gonna act. Warranty is just too good to get rid of atm.

I recommend suffering through the silence for at least most of the warranty, to make sure all the glitches are on GM's dime. After that, go for a downpipe-back exhaust to delete the emissions crap. You'll pick up a bit of mileage, as well as the option of smoking people out.

FYI, this forum and wanting a truck to smoke for no reason, don't really go together.
Indeed. Most here (myself included) work to make our trucks fast with a minimum of smoke. Blacking out a highway gives diesels a bad name. Now smoking out a buddy/rival out in the country... I've got no problem with that. ;)
...And some Prius owners are just asking for it, lol.
