Fuses all good, relays too, didn't check clutch switch yet cause that wouldn't cause no communication with scanner, trying to figure that out first I guess

No communication with trans or engine but scanner will read abs, air bag, body control, etc but they all have a u1000 code. The fuel gauge reads zero, the glow plugs won't come???

The great Tuscaloosa, Alabama
I know it's a completely different truck but at my school we had a 99 f250 with the 7.3 come in and it wouldn't crank over either. Everything looked fine but when you turned the key it did nothing. Starter checked out so we bypassed the ignition and put a switch between the battery and starter. Turned the key in ignition and held the switch to turn the starter and it fired up. Used a screwdriver to compete the circuit at the fender solenoid and it started up that way too.

Scanner stated every time "no ECM present" but we know it had one. That didn't help much.

Found the wire from the ignition to the fender solenoid wasn't sending a voltage when the key was turned so I traced it but couldn't find any faults in the wire.

Still don't know what the real cause was but it was just a shop truck so we left the switch in and have been running it that way ever since. Glow plugs didn't really work either, we'd have to plug the block heater in while it sits otherwise we'd be cranking it over and over until the block was warm enough to ignite the compressed mixture.

So with that your story sounds pretty similar although the truck systems are different.

Hope you find out what's wrong and I'll help where I can

Did you physically check for voltage anywhere? Stuff stays "hot" until commanded to work. Its hard to say withour having it in front of me with a meter. How was it shifting before this? Any rough shifts up or down? Does the shift indicater light up?
