I am getting ready to pull my valve covers off to check out my injectors due to my FICM. I was just wondering if or how hard it would be to do this to get better access to the injectors in the future. I was going to order some valve covers and give it a go, but if it will not work, then let me know.

So this brings up a good question. With all this grand technology now a days, and seeing as the injectors are one of the biggest problems for the LB7 engine, why hasn't someone come out with a set of valve covers that do allow you to access the injectors without having to remove the covers? Seems like anyone with an LB7 would be buying a set, especially if they were priced right.

I have been thinking on makeing these, but have to get some equipment into the shop and get cad set up working again. I just wish some one would make new(better) injectors and solve the problem.

After all these years how can the new Bosch or even aftermarket lb7 injectors be that different from lly+ injectors? Does it have more to do with how they are sitting in the head the the actual internal workings of it? I mean nobody really knows the true reason for failure.

I think is has alot to do with heat and the harsh, hot enviroment they run in. instead of being outside the rocker box.

better off to put a lly motor in complete with wiring and computer.

There's a guy on here or diesel place that used an LLY with his LB7 ecm and ficm and used EFI Live to tune the kinks out.
He said he talked to Bosch and they didn't mention anything about different injector voltages. He also seems to believe there is a link to the LB7 injectors being surrounded by coolant and the other engines being installed "dry".
