What is the best option for a turbine wheel on a stock lly charger? Machine work has been done to open up the turbine side to 3". I cant seem to find any info on a better flowing turbine wheel beside a 03 powerstroke 10 blade. Anybody willing to point me in the right direction?

I noticed you're from butler area. You planning on running any of the FPP ws pulls?

I wish! I don't have the funds to compete with you big dogs. We're trying to put this turbo together for my buddy's 4500. I would stay with a stock housing if I were to pull.

Ahh we're not as big as ya think. You can only do so much with their turbo rules. I was surprised the couple of pulls I went to they did send a couple guys away with Danville chargers.

Gotta be around 650-700 hp to win every week if I had to guess. I wasn't aware they turned people away with marks chargers wonder why?

You'll have to post up your findings. I'd be interested to know myself. I haven't really researched that far yet.

The new wheel is in the mail. I have to wait to get the wheel to Machine the housing before I'll know if it's gonna work or not.

Did you ever get the turbine wheel in?

No i was going to put it in my truck, but may end up doing some local pulls so we shifted gears and decided to put in the 4500. Then the head gaskets went outta the 4500 so were waiting till we pull the motor to pull the turbo off and get it machined to try and accept the wheel.

SO we ended up putting a 4094 turbine wheel in an lly charger (with the proper machine work to make it fit) with a tct batwheel out front. This charger was in my lbz with 100 over injectors, 3" boost tubes, and a danville modded cp3. Took the truck out and put 10 miles on it and it would blow 265/75/16's off at 60mph. This charger was straight nasty. So we went out and 4wd boosted launched it, Blew all four tires off as soon as i nailed it, as it shifted into second i let off and nailed again it hooked hard and then kaboom. Pulled it apart and the shaft bent and destroy the comp wheel. Our guess was the huge turbine wheel and small compressor wheel over-sped the shaft and dried the oil out in the bearings and got to hot causing the shaft to bend. It is possible to put a 4094 turbine wheel in a stock charger with the proper machine work. We didnt have time before sled pulling season to build another charger so we just put a 10 blade turbine wheel in and called it good. If we were to do it again i would put a 68mm wheel on the compressor side to slow down the shaft speed. The turbine wheel i bought from danville is now half the price to do this. We had no idea what were doing when we came up with this idea and still dont know. We try something and see what it does, yes thats a great way to waste money but thats how you learn. Just knew the bigger turbine wheel would flow way more air and greatly increase hp and airflow out of the motor. Just wanted to update this to anybody wanting to build something themselves and learn a little from my experience. :thumb:
