Hey guys,

I'm interested in an Allison that was previously used in an LLY-equipped truck. I have an LB7.

What modifications need to be done to the transmission for use in my LB7?

Thanks!

GM has not used the early trans for some time. They developed special fittings so they could use the late trans in everything ( ' 01/'05 ) The early bellhousing will not fit the later model and that would need a swap.

Well, just to add to the confusion, the transmission was ORIGINALLY used in an LB7-equipped truck. It was purchased by a gentleman who wanted to use it in his LLY. The necessary modifications were done to make it usable in his LLY. Now I would like to buy it and put it in my LB7.

What would be the easiest way to figure out what exactly has been done? Would pictures explain everything?

I am not located near the guy who has the transmission.

Update: The transmission originally came out of a 2004 LB7 truck. I *believe* the "internal wiring harness" and the NSBU were the only items swapped, to work with a 2004.5 LLY.

Would I simply need to swap the wiring harness and NSBU for it to work in my 2002 LB7, or were there other differences with the 2004 LB7? Thanks guys.

Swap the NSBU switch over and install teh adapter fittings to hook up the trans cooler lines and run it. The newer valve badies and harness will work in the older trucks, but the older valve bodies do not work in the newer LLY trucks.

The only possible issue I see with that, is the person selling the trans would like mine in exchange, to use in his truck (the 2004.5 LLY).

Would I just need to swap valve bodies?

Your bell housing will not work on his truck. Cooler lines are different.
