It's been said to help a bunch. Not sure if it is 100% the cause or 100% the cure but it will help. Also, it's cheaper than putting in a bunch of oil coolers and other things.

Does this particular truck have an aftermarket intake on it already, if so what brand?

First pull the CAC and the radiator. Clean the finned areas by flushing water back through the opposite direction the air would be traveling through them in the truck. Use a flashlight and a small pick if needed. Also clean the AC condenser and the tranny cooler the same way.

We were getting 1/2 of a 3 pound coffee can full of crap out of ours every 30-40K.

If that don't do it and it's running over about 240 I'd call Tx. The v-2 will also up your MPG a little.

just buy an LBZ mouthpiece Kurt and it should help dramatically.

X2 or X3... This helps as does the 4" exhaust and getting rid of the kitty if you can. The mouthpiece makes a big difference in how the engine feels and it flows a lot better. You don't need an intake, but you could do the swiss cheese thing and just cut out the front area which is right behind the headlight. You could then get the TxChristopher CAI to ensure the filter is just getting cold air. All this should bring you down 2-300 degrees.

This is the first thing I would try Kurt. It's the cheapest and most common fix to most vehicles with stacked coolers/radiators. I've even pulled a melted garbage bag out of one radiator that somehow got between it and the inter-cooler on a truck one time!!

Driving through farm country at night with the headlights on does a number on the front of the truck. If you have bugs splattered on you windshield then they're in the stack too.

The worst stuff we ever saw was in the mountains of New Mexico in the winter. They were putting down some sand pebbles that where just the right size to get wedged into the fins and stay there. :(
