Driving to work the other day I lost all boost. To start my trip I did a full throttle merge onto the highway. Ran fine and strong. Went down the road at 60mph for about 10 miles. Came into town and hit the first stoplight. I noticed the truck was a little sluggish leaving the light. by the time I hit the 3rd light (about 1 mile driving distance) I had lost all boost and it was smoking bad. The smoke was more gray than black. So I pulled into a parking lot and checked the lines and boots. All were good and no holes. It did idle fine and no hissing or out of ordinary noises when driving. Also no check engine light. So I limped home. It would get up to 50-55mph but was a Smokey struggle. Here is the strange part. Got about 1 to 1.5 miles from the house and the boost came back. I did not push it hard to test it because I was late to work and had to get to the house to get the Jeep. I have not started or driven it since.
I have not had much time to look at it, but I did check a couple easy things. The air cleaner looks almost new and is all intact. Tomorrow I will take the mouthpiece off to check the shaft play and see how it spins.
Now lets say it all checks out, What else should I check, or it sounds like ????? is bad, or check the ????? connector.
2005 LLY - mostly stock, no chip/programmer . no code reader .
