LLY Injector problem? Balance rates crazY!

Hey guys and gals,
Working on an 05' lly...The balance rate on Cyl. #3 was 15. Replaced the injector and this is the result. No change, however the truck does run better. No smoke, just a slight "lope" at idle. When I say cylinder 3, that is passenger side, second in looking from the front. Does EFI balance rate match the GM cylinder number? I know DVT does not....Any ideas? The truck still has the same codes as before, p0303 (cyl 3 misfire) and a p1229 also cyl. 3 related.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!
Dylan

There was a thread about a month ago pointing out that EFI Live numbers differently. Not sure which injector is actually labeled number 3, but chances are you replaced the wrong one.

would one bad injector throw all the balance rates way out? So the consensus was that EFI live balance rates are actually based on firing order? So if cyl. 3 shows bad, actually replace cyl. 7 (i.e. third in the firing order) ? Or could this still be a harness problem? The harness looked fine by the ficm, and I pricked all the injector ends. I am stumped.

Thanks for the help!

someone somewhere told me that if one injector is way out, it could throw all the balance rates out. I don't know if that is true or not, I am not sure what the ECM collects for info to calculate balance rates.

Balance rates match the correct cylinder. It is just the DVT function that is numbered differently.

damn....that kinda sucks. I was hoping that we just did the wrong cylinder. So What will cause that p0303 and 1299 code then if the injector is new? Gotta be in the wiring correct? Especially since all the balance rates are way out? Or is it possible all the injectors are junk? And if so is there another test I can do to make sure the injectors are junk before having him spend $$ on 7 more injectors?

Thanks!

Any update on this? My LLY is kinda doing the same thing. Before I pull an injector I wanna know if it's a wiring issue or the injector. All other balance rates look good other then #3 which is 11 and #4 which is like 5. So was it your wiring or injectors? and those would be the correct numbers for #3 and #4 cylinders on the motor correct? Thanks

I'm having a similar issue. From time to time my balance rates look crazy, showing #4 stuck wide open like in the pic. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1368840089.115576.jpg
I have had a P0304 and a P1232.
It drives funny, like if it had 'hiccups' all the time, specially cruising 2000~2200RPM ~70mph.... and rough when I slow down and have to go again, like in a exit ramp....
And then, out of the blue it drives normal again ImageUploadedByTapatalk1368840616.465464.jpg
So:
1>if it's a bad injector as I was told> why does it goes back normal?
2>what also could be causing the injector to get stuck open? Harness?battery?....
Anyone came up with a solution to this thread back then?
It's getting bad...
Thank you
Gus

We picked #2 and #7 in Gus' truck, ran upper engine cleaner through the system, brought all the rates down significantly. Truck was fine for a couple days, then #4 acted up again. He picked #4 and the truck ha been perfect since then

Those pics are showing the injector is stuck closed or you have a cracked piston and the computer is trying to add fuel through it. I'd pick it like Tim said
