I recently did a motor swap in my lly and about 3 weeks ago i blew a brake line and drove it to my shop were it has sat. This afternoon i went out to start it and it cranked til the batteries almost died so i put the the battery charger on it and it just cranks away... I have fuel going to the filter with good pressure and i seems to flow fine out of the bleeder screw when loosened. I do not have a fuel pressure tester for the rail but it seems that when u push open the valve nothing is there nothing pools or flows from the fitting... could this mean the cp3 isn't pumping fuel.. if so that seems strange being that it ran fine when parked.. There is one other possibility i am running the edge cts set up whit juice with attitude and it has froze before and a while back seemed to cause the truck to stumble it has turned off on me before going down the rd.. im worried that maybe this erased my computer some how. When i remove the edge set up from the truck nothing changes though still cranks but no start i just sent my injectors out to have the nozzels put on when i did the motor and have only driven maybe 2000 miles since i did the swap so i dont think i have a leaky nozzle i just am kind of at a lose with this one any help would be appreciated

Take the bleeder screw all the way out and pump till you get clean fuel coming out. Once you get to that point replace the bleeder screw and move over to the test port behind the alternator. Use a small extension with a rag and slowly depress the valve core, then start pumping the primer until you get clean fuel coming out. Once you get to that point release the valve core and pump until the primer is hard. Try to start from there(if you haven't already)

I took my inner fenders off to see if maybe I had a fuel leak that caused it to lose its prime as it sat for a while and I think one of the injector lines had leaked a little I'm not completely sure... Had I cranked it over for long enough shouldn't it had filled those lines back up tho or would they become air bound and cause my problem... I know it's not the best thing to do but I I actually used a little ether to start the truck to see if it was a fuel leak as I cranked it a buddy sprayed a small amount in the intake and it started now it starts up just fine I'm left confused and wondering if my injection pump could be a fault it doesn't seem to be leaking fuel when it runs either...

Does the truck start now just fine since you got it running by ether? If so, you could have had air in the system that worked its way out since you got it started. If not, you need to log rail pressures while cranking. You need to see 1500 psi before the injectors will fire. Last thing, if the injector you thought was leaking while cranking isn't leaking while running, then it's not leaking.

Next time you want to use ether, pull the plastic shroud off your fuse block and remove the big red wire that goes to the 175 amp mega fuse. I think it takes a 12 or 13mm socket. That will ensure your glow plugs do not turn on and potentially create a bigger problem.

Ive driven the truck for the last two days starts up just fine since I started it with ether but I must have fuel going some where it doesn't belong since it lost its prime so im gunna start trying to track that down one of the injectors seemed damp but I couldn't tell Im hoping that will be my issue thanks for the help

It could have just been your system didn't push all the air out when you primed it. It could have been air locked to some degree. If the truck is staying primed now then I would bet that is the case. Just to be safe, use brake cleaner and compressed air around the injector you thought was damp and get it cleaned up. Drive the truck for awhile and re-check. I think you will find your issue has been cured. Glad to hear you can atleast drive the truck now. :thumb:
