Well after figuring out some wiring issues that caused an injector to stick open I found out I also have either a hole in a piston or a bent rod. When doing a compression check all cylinders held around 300-320 psi except one it would hold about 180psi. So now I'm going to build my motor.

Plans are
-delipped lb7 pistons
-rods are still up in the air it's between manley, bc, or carrillos
-arp head studs
-arp main studs
-keyed crank
-maybe a cam
-sending my 4094 billet wheel turbo to mark to upgrade to either a stg2r or a 72mm
-sportsman pump

I have a few questions I already have the delipped pistons and I'm wondering if I should have them sent off to be coated. They are lightly used.

Also on rod choice I know most people are going to say go ahead and buy carrillos but henry from cotnp said the bc rods are holding up fine and are rated at 1300 hp so I'm thinking about those and socal says manley's are good for 1000hp. I have no intentions of making over 1000th ever.

And is a cam needed? Or should I just put Springs in?

Sounds like a solid build
Any of those rod manufactures Dmax rod is going to be just fine
Thermal coating is a personal thing, Im not sure if it actually increases the pistons strength but I doubt it. Personally, I don't think its a necessary option

And as far as the CP3 is concerned..if it were me...I'd be putting a 10mm exergy in there, cuz ya never know...

A cam isn't a bad idea. But you gotta remember that, as you increase the cam profile you raise the starting point rpm of the power band...you'll pick up more top end HP as you go bigger and bigger and lose more and more on the bottom and shift your optimum RPM range higher

That being said, something like the socal 3388 is a solid choice for a street truck that still tows

I'd key the cam and pin the H2O pump too, and add a SoCal (ATI) balancer into your parts list :thumb:

I plan on putting dual pumps on it later down the road.
I put a new water pump on when I did my head studs in January and tig welded it so it should be fine.
And that was one of the cams I was looking at. I also looked at the Hamilton stage one and the empire diesel stage one alt fire cam

I picked up a set of delipped and shaved pistons from a friend who only put 13 hooks on them since he ordered them from merchant automotive for $150 and ordered a set of carrilos, gasket kit and main studs from cotnp tonite hopefully will have the motor out in the next couple days and off to the machine shop.

Just now getting around to getting my truck back together the motor is done at the machine shop along with the heads. Finally tore my old motor down and come to find out it was nothing i had expected it turned out the motor was fine it had just broken a rocker bolt causing it to have low compression in one cylinder. I just got my turbo and cp3 back from Mark it was upgraded to a 72mm and he modded the pump. I'm ready to get this thing back on the road. I'm anxious to see how the new turbo and modded pump help. I also put caltracs on, took the overload out, 3" lowering shackles, all new belltech street scene shocks, and about to order a lock up controller. Really hoping the truck will make close to 700 on a single pump and run In the 11s.
