Lift pump advice

I'm considering several options for adding a fuel pump, I've been read quite a bit on fuelab lift pumps as well as the airdog 2.
I want the flow-thru design incase it fails I don't want to be stranded.

I have a few different ideas. I was considering velocity fuel system 100 with fuelab pump, then I would run a nictane adaptor on the stock fuel filter location to get down to 2micron filtering.

Or I was considering running the airdog 2 with their filters adding the cat filter adaptor anyways on the stock location, or is this overkill?

My last option is to run a custom cat filter setup with whatever pump I decided to add in, only problem with this is I wouldn't have any idea how to set it up myself.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You can run a cat filter on both the fuel-lab pump and the airdog 2 bases with a little modifaction i believe. Id run the 2 micron cat filter on the lift pump.

I have the AirDog II 165gph, I run Donaldson filters on it and I deleted my factory filter head. Negative temperatures up here in Maine and it hasn't let me down yet.:)

Is the AirDog II pretty loud? It seems like some of the videos I have watch they're loud, guys say they're quiet in them but it sounds loud to me...

I have a dual kennedy with a single filter head on it for sale...completely silent with the truck off. Has fueled over 620 rwhp without draining it dry and has operated fine in temps around here at -20. shoot me a text 217 248 8116 if youre interested

What happens if the lift pump ever fails? Will it not allow fuel through and leave you stuck or will the cp3 still be able to pull fuel through?

If the pump fails, most are flow through design. Meaning they will still allow fuel to siphon enough to get you home

My 165 is loud as heck. You can hear it in the cab over the motor easily. My brother's 165 is MUCH quieter. Mine has been this loud since I bought it, and is one of the first AirDog II's. His is several years newer, so maybe they updated the design?

Make sure you don't cut your pick up too short or the flow threw design with still leave you stuck on side of road if your fuel level gets to low.

I drilled my stock basket per the instructions for the air dog 165, when the pump when out I was stuck on side of road with a little less then 1/4 tank. Had to walk to gas station and make a few trips. Wife was not a happy camper,

Mopar..... You have a very exquisite build. Don't think you missed anything :thumb:

I run an air dog 165 with a cat filter in the fuel filter head. My air dog is pretty quiet.

Thanks for the info, do you know for sure if I could run cat water separator (326-1642) and 2 micron filter (1R-0749)? I've seen one write up of a guy modding to put on 0749, so I imagine the 1642 would fit? I believe I read they're the same size...correct me if I am wrong.

I'm not read to buy quite yet, don't have the funds quite yet I'm just preparing knowledge wise for now..unless I come upon an awesome deal of course I'd make it work.

Rick is correct. Kennedys are the way to go in my opinion. I'm asking 325 shipped for mine with the filter head and everything.
