I am potentially buying a 2006.5 Duramax LBZ. I am a first time buyer of a diesel. The truck has #4 and #6 injectors with high balance rates. It has a mass cylinder leak and a hydro-boost leak… The truck has 102,000K on it. Is this a truck i should consider buying. Why and why not?

Unless the rest of the truck is in excellent shape and the price is extremely low and you are mechanically inclined enough to replace the headgaskets or can have them replaced cheaply, I wouldn't mess with it. Sounds like the truck has been abused.

First of all, of course you should be concerned. I'm not sure what you're asking exactly, you already know the truck has a bunch of problems. Second of all, there's no need to start multiple threads about the same thing with different titles.

First ....^^^what he said^^^...
Second, "Mass cylinder leak"??

So in the engine there's a massive cylinder leak, like a head gasket?
Or
The seal between the master cylinder and brake booster is leaking???

Third, how much?

You're not getting answers because you're not adequately describing the details of your scenario...like asking price of the rig, wether you're mechanically inclined enough to tackle the repairs, overall condition of the rig...etc

Pulled from your "Lemon" thread:

Yeah, a 102,000mi lemon...

How did you deduce the #4 and #6 injector balance rates were bad???
Again, without an asking price, dude, how the heck can anyone tell you if it's worth buying?

Where is it located?
Was it a truck that was dedicated to pulling a trailer?
Is it clean and shiny or dented, rusted and beat?
Is it 1lt, 2lt, 3lt trim?
Is the only reason you're considering this truck cuz it's a duramax powered diesel pickup? I'm asking why it appeals to you...
What are YOU going to be buying it for?

If the rig is clean, the brakes are good, there's maintenance records, it doesn't have a 5th wheel hitch the interior is well kept and the asking price is reasonable (like 16.5-18.5) and the owner is selling it because they just don't want to deal with the current repairs and just want out of it, I personally wouldn't be concerned about doing some minor repairs...

But you're not me...
If the owner wants out of it cuz he's run it into the ground and now it's a pile with no service records and the dude seems shady, yeah, be concerned
