LED bed lights

I got the idea when I was at a local marine supply store and seen that they had water proof LED lights. So I thought about running them under the bed rail to help see at night since my cargo light is black out now. It is not 100% complete, I have to silicone the wire into the bed corner and then it will be complete.

I drilled a hole next to the open hole, I use that as a tie down spot, the wire is ran at the front of the bed through the rail. Then connected them together and ran the wire right with a factory wire loom on the frame.

I've always planned on doing this. I'm a sucker for LED's and have been meaning to add this to the list. Along with under the bed rails I'm going to have one that lights up the inside of my toolbox as well.

Looks good I want to do something similar. Plus like said above lights in the tool box. What wires did you splice into

Superbrightleds is where I have always bought mine. Cheap enough. So far I've only had one of their 194 bulbs fail and start blinking. But that has been after 3 years.

Nice I have though about putting some in I was going to tie them into the cargo light.

I was going to do the same thing but there is like 8 wires going into the switch, so I just toggled switched it. Plus the wires are like I don't know 20 gauge or smaller. :( I am not a fan of aftermarket switches but I have it hidden so it works out for me.

Looks real good! A friend of mine was just mentioning a similar set up to this and I thought it was a great idea. I might have to do something like this! :thumb:

Did you wire them straight to the battery? Use an resistors?

I wired them to a Key Hot fuse and I have a inline fuse, no resisters were used. I'm going to change it to a Hot fuse so that way I don't have to have the key in the ignition. Also they are hooked to a toggle switch, I have it right under the dash where the E Break release is.

I believe you can do this as well but don't quote me haha. Instead of risking a dead battery you could hook up the power supply to the 'inadvertent power supply' circuit. So you have power for a certain amount of time but will kill it after a while.

Where is that circuit at? I'll just have to do circuit test on it and see how long it's hot before it dies. It's not like I'm going to be using them for lighting up a field or anything so the power doesn't have to be Infiniti. :joker:

I'd have to look it up here when I get time. I believe one spot is where the dome lights get their power. Hence why you can leave them on and leave the truck then they turn off after a while.
