LB7: Leave it or remove it?

On my 2001, the hole in the fender is blocked off. Talking about the hole that feeds air to the air filter box. I can’t remember why they did this on some trucks, and I should because I worked at the dealership back then. I think it had something to do with snow or rain? Previously lived in Alaska, now Wyoming.

Supposably helped stop snow from packing up in the air box

Took a look today, and noticed that the cover wasn’t stuck to the fender anymore. It was actually being sucked into the air box. LOL!

I removed it. If my filter plugs up with snow or water, I’ll have to make another cover. I took a pic, but can’t get it to upload.
