Hi everyone,
I picked up EFI Live from Ted at MPL a couple of weeks ago and thought I would post what I've been doing with it. I've been working through Nick's LMM tuning tutorial to build my own tune. Just wanted to see if anyone had any comments or suggestions about it. I also have a question about the timing table, but I'll get to that later.
I started out by removing the DTC's for the DPF so I could install the 4" turbo back exhaust that I got from Ted. I also disabled the EGR and adjusted my speedometer to get it reading accurately.
Then I went into the Pedal Position to Desired Torque tables and maxed them out on the high end as per Nick's tutorial. Also maxed out the Maximum Fuel Quantity vs. RPM table and the Maximum Torque 1&2 vs. RPM tables.
Then I went into the Main Injection Pulse table and adjusted all of the cells above 40 mm3 and 80 mPa by increasing them by 20% and smoothing them to blend them with the adjacent cells.
I used Josh H's excel spreadsheet to calculate a new timing table. This is the only thing that concerns me about this tune is the timing table I came up with looks substantially different than the stock timing table. I used a 50/50 BTDC/ATDC split for now. I've attached a screen shot of the stock timing table and the modified table so you guys can comment on them.
Then I bumped up the Desired Boost Level table by 10% in the cells above 1600 RPM and 45 mm3 as per Nick's tutorial and blended them with the adjacent cells.
I also went into the TCM calibration and increased my WOT shift RPM by 200 RPM on all of the WOT shift points. Now it will shift around 3400 RPM instead of 3200 RPM at WOT.
Now I'm off to go load it into my truck and do some logging and see how it drives. Up until now I've only had the DPF/EGR removed, the rest of the tune was stock. I did some logging with the stock tune to get some baseline data to see how my changes are affecting things.
I'd appreciate comments/feedback/suggestions, particularly regarding the differences between my timing table and the stock timing table. (See attached screen shots.) I've also attached my filled out timing calculator spreadsheet and a copy of the tune.
Thanks
Randy
