The underside of my truck from the transfer case tailshaft back looks like a crud-bomb went off. :( The tailshaft seal is damp with an amber-colored fluid.

Is the transfer case fluid seperate from the transmission? If so, how do I go about checking the level and what do I put in it if it's low?

transfer case has atf in it. theres two plugs on the rear of housing at different levels. the upper one should be filled to this hole atleast. Although the latest word is remove speed sensor, and fill with 3qts of 5w-30 motor oil instead.

Fluid is seperate. They both run atf. The tailshaft seals in the transfercase have been a problem with leaking. Call me.

Mike, are you still recommending motor oil for the T-case?

Ok, thanks. I'll give you a shout Monday so I don't tread on your weekend. ;) I need some help getting ahold of Robert too. I'm starting to think I've got the wrong phone number for him. I keep leaving messages with no results.
