leaking fuel

Im rather new to diesels, and im having a hard time tracking this down. Got an 07 LBZ classic, just started leaking fuel. Ive got it running down both rear corners of the oil pan, but def favoring the pass side. I did a quick glance, and without tearing into this thing, I have NO idea where to look. It has to be coming from somewhere buried under something, because there is no obvious sign of fuel anywhere, just underneath.

Im fearing I may have to take this somewhere, does anyone know a good duramax mechanic in the pitt area? or is anyone around pitt one?

More than likely its leaking in the "Valley" and running down the back side of the motor , try to get upn in the valley with a flash light and see if you can spot it .

yeah i was tryin to shine a light in there, my issue is it doesnt seem to be leaking at idle, only under acceleration. IF i had to guess ( and this is totally a guess) i would say its somewhere at the rear of the pass fuel rail, there is a sensor that is plugged into the back of the rail? it just looks cleaner around there than the rest of the top

I was having this same problem. It ended up being a fuel return line that comes off of the fuel rail.

what i did was completely scrub down the engine compartment so it was clean as a whistle. then i started truck and let it idle ( no diesel smell at all- why i think it isnt leaking at idle). no leak so i drove around for maybe 10 min, got fuel on the pan corners underneath, and when i look up, looks like I can see it on the pass rear corner of the block. from on top I cant see a god damn thing. no fuel anywhere that is visible, only thing i see is the rear pass side under the egr looks cleaner then rest of engine, why i was thinkin its under there.

Im thinking I'm going to have to just tear all the shit off the top of the motor.

I would take it to the dealer, however the truck is sitting with 157k miles, therefore, out of warranty

and I'm confident enough that I CAN fix the problem, IF I can just find find it. why i was asking if there are any dmax gurus near me that could lend a hand. And I'm sure it would be cheaper than paying the dealer

That sensor is the very back of the pass fuel rail, on lbzs and lmms. If you have a lly your sensor is located somewhere else. Anyway I have the same symptoms, gonna have to check the sensor aswell. As far as I can tell the valley is clean.

yes this leak was my sensor, I ended up making my own special wrench to get at it- cant remember the size though. i tightened it and never leaked since *knock on wood*

Only way I was able to find the leak was ramp up the rail pressure at idle. 05_LLY came and helped me with it at the time. I believe he said it was only leaking above like 20,000 rail pressure or something like that.

Like said before, if you have access to EFI live, turn up the rail pressure
