LBZ: LBZ With 4L85E Question

What does it take to remove the 4L85E and put on a 6 speed Allison? Do the LBZ's with the 4L85E have a different OS on the ECU? Would I need a new ECU or flash on a different OS when installing the 6 speed?

Looking at acquiring a LBZ with 4L85E and either putting it in a classic car or truck. Or swapping it into a Suburban with a 6 speed behind it.

The ECM will need to be repined as a few wires are in different spots so that a truck ECM cannot be put into a van and vice versa(same ECM, but the OS is different and is what requires the repining). Look up member pussow over at DP as he has done this exact swap on his 80's chevy truck.

Well the guy told me it was a 4L80E instead of a 4L85E. Does that make any difference Ferm?

Curious as to why? Was it a race truck?

No real difference as they are both the same basic trans(the 4L85E has some internal mods to up it's torque rating SLIGHTLY). Electronically they are both the same.
