If the vains are clogged with soot you can take it out and run the living shit out of it. Get the exhaust hot to burn off the soot off. Might work might not. As far as changing the turbo for a first timer it will take you a whole day.

Im with plowboy, if you dont have the time to fix it try beating it like a rented mule to get it hot and free them up.

When my vane position sensor went out, truck ran mint. The only reason I knew it was bad was the vanes would constantly cycle at idle. Smooth idle, then the vacuum cleaner woosh, smooth idle, then vacuum cleaner woosh, repeated. Normal driving was fine. Not saying it isn't the sensor, but that what happened when mine went. I don't remember the number of the code it threw, but the code stated: Vane position sensor...... when it was read with a scan tool

I hope it's something simple for you.

ok removed the sensor and took a chincy screw driver and tried moveing the shaft in there and it moved freely so i took the one outa my 06 and took it for a spin and what do ya know it run awesome again and no codes poped up probley drove it 10 miles on the test drive so were good to go just have to order a new sensor for my 06

Did you scan it first to see if it is the issue?
yeah first time codes came up i got a 2563 and a003a cleared them and started digging up info took it for another spin and got codes again just the 003a this time cleared when i swapped sensors no codes came back

yeah my guess is it just depends how the sensor fails mine just stuck at a certin percent and i couldnt go off exhaust sound becaues the truck still has stock exhaust so u cant hear crap lol
