06 2500hd with the 6spd Allison. I do not tow, just use as a daily driver. Will switching over to Transynd matter? Or would it be good to just go ahead and do anyway. I don't mind spending the money for it if it will be better in the long run.

Also I don't know if I feel like doing the cooler lines my self and was thinking of having my usual service shop doing it for me. If so how would I suggest to them to change my fluid? The hoot method wouldn't work since I need my truck to drive and from what I read on the forums you need to drive a few hundred miles before the second drain and refill. Suggestions? First trans fluid change so clueless to this.

Have them replace the pan filter, reuse the gasket as it is reusable. If the shop gives you any BS about the Allison pan filter is just a screen, that went away back around 2003, somewhere in there. Save it and cut it open for sure.

After the first initial change drive it for about thirty minutes to an hour and drain via the drain plug only and you can do it after you have the shop do it the first time. Careful when refilling as you want it just below the hot mark on the stick, better a little under than over.

If you feel you want a higher percentage of Transyd do it one more time and you'll be good for 75,000 miles with Transynd and would not run it over 4 years. I'll more than likely catch some crap about that but the fact is 90% of the guys will never push fluid to its minimum as a daily driver. Don't forget to replace the spin on filter about every 5,000 miles and don't forget about the Allison spin on filter magnet just inside the rubber gasket.

Get a few prices on the replacement of the transmission lines before doing them, might scare you into doing it yourself...

Thanks c20. I'll be sure to get a few quotes on the line replacement first.

I could be wrong (have read so many different posts the info is starting to run together) but I thought the pan filter should only be changed when doing an overhaul? Again, I could be wrong but thought I read that a few times.

If I don't drop the pan and I drain via the plug and spin-on only, for the two re-fills I should be looking at around 28 qts correct? So get a 5 gallon of the fluid to be safe

Drop the pan and do the filter. It takes about 10 minutes and the gasket is reusable. The seal that holds the filter in place needs to be replaced and comes with the filter.

Pry open the old filter and look inside the "felt" this will tell you allot about the condition of the trans, especially if original.

The change at overhaul recomendation is true but its cheap insurance and most of all gives you a better idea of the condition of the trans. The transend gives you the benefit of longer change intervals but dex iii works just fine.

The sump filter change at O/H is for stock clutches only. They do not shed and Allison does not expect any power programmers to be installed either. Aftermarket clutches however do shed. Power programmers will also cause clutches to shed.
Spending 20 bucks on your Allison filter is a good safeguard and can give you a good idea as to condition of your trans. Running a restricted sump filter will hurt your trans.

No, if you look on the passenger side of the radiator you will see two aluminum lines going in to the radiator tank. If you look into the grill you will see the aux cooler and two more lines.

that is the AC line. the trans lines enter the radiator on the passenger side and into a small cooler at the front

Gotcha. Been searching for a blown up diagram but can't ever find a good one. Anyway, reason I asked was the rubber hose on the AC hose is cracking and starting to look like it's going to crumble apart soon. Is there a wrap I can buy to wrap it up or is best to replace?
