LBZ or LMM?

I am selling my LB7 and will be looking into either an LBZ or an LMM. First off, which is considered better and what problems do I need to look for when shopping for trucks?

Honestly decide first if you like the classic body style or the new body style... Then go from there. They are different trucks but the base platforms are pretty much the same.
I would say looking at them as stock the lbz is better because it doesn't have a DPF. So if want to go modifying it right away it will be easier.

Personally I think the lmm is ass ugly but that's me.

With the classic body style, did they make any improvements to prevent rust from eating the cab corners and rocker panels? I guess I am comparing an 06-07 with my 2003.

I love the features of the LMM but performance wise LBZ all day long, Yes they're basically the same but their really not. The LMM ECM has some tables not available that the LBZ does, The Lmm under certain conditions will throw a code (say with a lockup box) where as the LBZ wont. Perfect world would be LMM truck with LBZ seats and Operating system!!

:)

And while I LOVE the 02 bodystyle and Oregondmax has a great looking truck himself....I would say my LMM is far from ugly :)

Yours is heavily modified and color matched very well though. The stock ones are ugly with the chrome caps and whatnot. :thumb:

Well I like both for sure! I guess I will just see what I can get the best deal on. Knowing me I wont go beyond deleting the emissions and getting it tuned so I guess the only difference is that the LMM has DPF and the LBZ doesnt?

Correct. If you are going to leave it stock then the lbz will get better mileage for the most part and be a little bit more reliable. DPF systems cause all kinda of weird problems as the mileage goes up.

But for not that much money you could delete an lmm and get a decent mileage bump, same with the lbz just less stuff to remove.

I have had both. One thing I hate about the LMM is the taller bed sides. Made it a pain pulling my 5th wheel. Also the sheet metal seemed a lot thinner and doing head light bulbs sucked. But I did love the interior a lot more. Also no pump rub.

I would say they are even for the ups and downs. Until they crack down on emissions even more. Then LBZ

If they crack down on emissions more, would that affect the LMM at all though? I did sell my truck last night so I am actively looking at other trucks now.

Yes. It has a dpf factory. Lbz does not. I may be thinking to much but that's why I went with a gasser on my new truck. Watching what they have been doing the last 12 years with emissions. I think they are going to start inforcing emission checks real soon.
