Hi Guys Im new here but have been lurking around for quite a while and have started to modify an 07 LBZ its a pewter 4x4 CCSB on 33's. So far I have done an egr blocker and pcv reroute. I have also done the factory high idle switch and factory turbo brake switch. The only performance part on the truck currently are the alligator performance High flow trans cooler lines because the factory ones decided to blow apart last winter. Now to get onto what I want to do, Ill put it all out here and see what you guys think. Its mainly a dd with pulling an 5-8k lbs trailer occasionally and a 20k lbs gooseneck rarely. I dont do any sled pulling, truck pulling, or drag racing and dont really intend too(yes she gets babied most of the time). What Im after with this truck Isnt crazy power levels but good flow, low egts, and better drive pressures, basicly just helping the engine breathe and improve its longevity. Im only shooting for around 600hp and 1200tq max which I know will be pushing my lbz pistons but this would only be on my hot tune. Heres the list of what Im looking at putting on it what do you think?

ProFab DP
ProFab 3in Boost Tubes
ProFab 3in Short Bridge
ProFab Headers and Up Pipes
S&B Cold Air Intake
Air Dog II Lift Pump
MBRP 4in Exhaust
PPE Trans Cooler
Banks Intercooler
Danville Stg2R Turbo
DSP5 Tuning by Mark
ARP Head Studs

And to hold all this I wasnt sure really what to do and this is where I need the most help, I was looking at

Gmax-6-3
Transgo Jr Shift Kit with Mikes New Springs
Billet Input Shaft
Billet Flex Plate
MagHytec Deep Pan
Suncoast 1058 Converter... How are these for a dd? Listening to towu4free Maybe the 1057 would be better with a lower stall speed.

Think I need to talk to mike l and see if I could get his stage 4 with some extra goodies shipped to Ohio and how much that would cost
All in all Im looking for a bullet proof trans that will take whatever I can throw at it and will last for at least 100k miles, I dont do any sled pulling or drag racing so other than tearing around the street and some towing the trans should have a fairly easy life.

Well thats my plan guys what do you think? What would you change or have I got my bases pretty well covered? Also thinking about dual cp3s and 60% over injectors, but those would come later. Another thought is Caltrac vs traction bars I'm leaning more towards the caltracs because I don't care about a little stiffer ride.
Edit- Would I benefit from a welded water pump just for security?

Thanks Jared

Seems to be pretty close to what I did to my truck I don't have a clue what kind of hp I am putting to the ground but my butt dyno says it is pretty impressive.
The Trans-go Jr is part of the GMax 6 I used the spring kit from Mike L as well the billet parts I don't think are needed at our power level.
I didn't do head studs (hope it doesn't bite me) from what I have been told the LBZ pistons give way before the head gaskets. I think I am at my power limit for the stock bottom end what I have left to do is for added safety ( bigger injectors, Banks Techni Cooler, and possibly twinning it) not more power as I am already pushing my luck.
Somebody with more experience than I, I am sure will chime in but this is my first time building a diesel and so far my experience with what sounds to be very close to the same build as mine.

Alright thanks! How do you like your setup? And thats why I kinda went all out with it just to ease the strain on the engine, dont want to build it yet :D

That seems like the general opinion so far... scratch the head studs unless im making around 50 pounds of boost right? And that is my big problem no really reputable builders in my area... I emailed danville but dont know if they build trans.

So far so good been pretty wet here since I finished and just got laid off so seat time has been minimal. Just install an Edge CS with EGT prob to monitor what is going on inside. I have mounting for 5 guages but had to take a less expensive route for now. I have laid in to it a couple times but can't afford to brake anything right now so I need to maintain control LOL .
But yes it is just crazy how quick something this heavy can be. In light of losing my job I am still gitty about how the truck turned out.

Sorry to hear about your job but Im glad you like your setup this will be my first performance oriented adventure and I do want to see what something this heavy can do. Ive always been interested in diesel performance and I think my interest may become a reality lol

Ah it's all good I am pretty employable and have always seemed to be able to find a job better than the last. Although the last one was pretty sweet. But thank you!!! It is a reality check none of the less.

Alright wasn't sure how heavy I should build the trans and thought I should do it good once but you think it may be a bit overkill? Lol

I was towing a 10K travel trailer last May and the TC started to slip. I figured to only do the trans once so, I got an Alligator Stg V trans kit with a Suncoast 1056 TC and the trans case rub kit and spent the summer rebuilding it myself. Now I won't have to worry about the trans because it is built for way more than what I am going to throw at it.

Yes it is some over kill but, "Mr Murphy" loves me so I go some extra distance so I won't have to deal with him. I don't want to be towing the TT out in BF Egypt and have a problem if I can prevent it.
If you call Alligator talk to Holton and tell him that Doc said to call.:D

Studs and up pipes are overkill. Egr delete turbo trans and lift pump will get you there. Add a race valve to your list. I like my 1054 converter hooks good. 1056 will be fine for you.

I know several guys that have done it in a few days, less than a week. I suffer from old guys syndrome and if I get up under the truck for 4-5 hrs one day it will be 3-4 days before I can get at it again.:thumb::D:thumb:
