This is a dumb question, I know. I have looked around but have not seen the answer. I am looking to install a LBZ in my 03 LB7.

I am pretty sure I will need EFILive to complete the swap. (disable EGR codes etc.)

EFI Live is sold as per engine family.

Tunes are VIN locked. My VIN has a LB7 associated with it. I will need to tune a LBZ ECM.

Is there some certain way I need to order EFILive? Or is the VIN stored in the BCM and once EFI Live see's that, it does not care about the ECM being from an LBZ truck.

As i said, I know there is an anwser, as many people have done this swap. I just hope to get it clear in my head, before spending the money on EFILive.

Also, who should I buy it from? Is there a vendor that is better suited to package a tune with my purchase that supports my LBZ swap?

And why are the links to EFILive's website not working? Or is it just my connection?

TX of course
Efi doesn't care. Not sure of which of our vendors might have more experience on doing swaps, but I would think any of them could handle the tuning end of it.

EFILIVE is not sold per engine family. Resellers sell it that way as teh TUNES are specific to each engine generation. The V2 cable could care less. The LBZ engine uses the dedicated high speed GM LAN for flashing, so it won't even look at the rest of the truck. As to the VIN, EFILIVE's V2 could care less. It locks to the serial number in the ECM itself, not your VIN number. You might want to look into an autocal if you're not planning on doing your own tunes but instead having somebody else do them. As to needing EFILIVE, that is up to you. If you plan on doing an EGR delete and other things, then you are pretty well limited to EFILIVE for tuning, but another even cheaper option is to buy a pre programmed ECM from a tuner for your swap. Theres lots of options available, the best advice is to decide if you want to try your hand at tuning, or if you want to get somebody else to tune it. If you want somebody else to tune it, then I suggest you start calling a few tuners and ask them what they reccomend you do.
