My little brothers 04 LB7 is do for an injector job, or at least I am assuming so because it just started to white smoke pretty bad. I havent checked balance rates or anything like that yet. However, where the down pipe meets the exhaust at the v-band clamp, its leaking oil pretty bad on to the ground. Could the bad injectors be the cause of this? I haven't seen this yet.

I pulled the exhaust off the down pipe and oil did come out. Not much is done to it. It has an airdog and efi live but thats about it.

I haven't pulled the intake horn off yet but I have pulled the plastic air intake piping off and it was quite oily as well.

If there is oil on the intake side of a LB7 turbo, it is probably the turbo being shot.

But no matter where the source of the oil, be very careful running it, since it could potentially run away on the oil if whatever seal is weeping blows out the rest of the way.

Given what you've posted so far, I think the turbo is going to need replaced.

How rough does it run? Does he have excessive blow by out the oil filler neck?

Excessive crankcase pressure will push oil thru the seals of the turbo.

I hope it's just a bad turbo, for your brothers sake.

Im actually not sure its oil anymore. I'm pretty sure its just diesel and it looks like oil because its so black by the time it hits the exhaust. Its not as thick as oil either. Could this be possible? I think an injector is stuck open and that could also cause it to run rough? It doesn't run that rough, it just shakes a little bit at idle. I haven't ran it with the oil fill cap off yet but thats what I will do next.

Careful running it to much, if it fuel could wash cylinder down then your toast

Is it over full with oil(fuel)? No way a hung injector puts fuel in the the intak horn.

alright I did some more work with it this weekend. I am leaning towards a bad turbo. It is definitely oil coming out of the exhaust. Also when you drive it, it white smokes like a train. Cant even see behind the truck.
