well after looking, i see that with a 4" lift you can't even tell it's lifted. So, as far as brands go for a 6" lift, what would be the best for the money? I also saw some that dropped the torsion bars and some that didn't. which is best in your opinions?

I am a big tuff country fan. I have one on my own truck and have installed them on several truck. I think they are a great lift for the money.

If I was you I'd get a lift 2 inches higher than what you want and just lower your t-bars all the way down, that way all your angles will be flat and you will have the look you want. I have an 8" fabtech and have no complaints

With superlifts u don't have to cut the ears off the differential bracket... in case u ever wanna lower it back down u wont have to buy the 165 dollar piece from cognito

x3.... Especially with the fabtech's, their tierod angles angles can get stupid when cranked up.

Joe.... glad to see your change to "horniest"

Hahaha.

I have a 6 inch rcd and haven't had any problems. Have run a 35 inch tire and also a 33 inch with the lift cranked down. I will find some pics in a few.

Lol Just so you guys know, there is such thing as lowering it too low. you will wind up blowing through the LCA bumpstop and hitting metal on metal. it dont feel good. It depends on how "saggy" your torsion bars are

there is no "best kit". Lifting a truck inheritly comes with flaws, its how some of these kits address them that makes them better than others. IMOP, Cognito, tuff country, or other spindle lift type kits are the best way to go. The first two i mentioned seem to have the best rating out of most kits. I like my fabtech but i had to do some work and put some time into it to make it ride better than stock, hold up to my abuse, and make it last a long time. If i were to do it over, id buy a cognito 4-6" kit and im actually really debating on buying one. I think the kit lowered to 4" with my 37s would look awesome :D. not to metion it would fit in my garage then

First with 33"s and t bars turned down, second with 35"s sitting normal.

What is your lift set at in your avatar? How do those kits adjust anyways?

jsut like any other torsion bar truck. the key is that they run a "drop block" on the LCA that bolts onto the LCA through where the torsion bar sits and on the lower shock mount. the torsion bar then rides in another hexagon tube that is on top of the drop block and sits at the factory hieght. think of it like a block for a rear spring but for the torsion bar instead. the bigger kits (7-9" and 9-11") use a third arm that pivots in the factory LCA mounting area and uses two heims that bolt in off the third arm and connect to the LCA. the third arm has a hexagon tube in it as well for the torsion bar to sit in. the "drop block" wont work on the bigger kits due to the swing that is inherantly increased as the drop block becomes taller, the swing would be too great and would limit suspension travel by hitting the frame before your suspension hit full bottom out. I spent about 15 hours trying to retro fit one of those NTBD deals into my fabtech kit, i have to either modify my frame or do some major cutting on the lift kit brackets. Neither of which i want to do but i learned alot :D

James pretty much summed it up better than I could have.

In short, I tried to clear 33's with green keys. Got tired of a harsh ride and blowing cv shafts apart. Bought the 20" Rockstars and realized I needed a lift. Cognito was my only choice bc it had highest tolerance of backspacing 5.5" from fabricated spindle. In the avatar it's sitting on 35's set at 5". Best part having my lift is I can roll on 35s lifted and drop down to stock wheels and 285s, yank rear blocks in 30 min. With torsion bars backed out full, entire front end geometry is completely flat yet retains a "cranked look". 4wd launches at the track all day. Just need some traction bars.....
