I know a couple people have plugged theirs to hold better rail pressure. (same thing as shimming FPRV on lly/lbz) what i was wondering is why does gm have the fprv and banjo bolt in the first place?? if it is something for safety reasons is it 100% ok to plug the bolt and or shim the fprv? i am just wondering why gm had it in the first place? I would like to plug mine this summer and just want to know some of these things.

pretty much anytype of high pressure pumping system has a pop valve for safety reason:)

Plugging the banjo is dangerous IMO it's not rated for 30 000 psi!

the block that the banjo bolt goes into is rated so that is why i plugged it at the source

Wait, you just said that it is not rated, but then the next line you say that it is rated. Sorry im not picking I am just confused. Did you do it, but you think its dangerous? Or did I read that wrong. I was gonna do this too, but if my CP3 is going to blow up then I dont want to do it.

i think what he is saying is he didn't plug the bango bolt since it is not rated for 30k psi (threaded) but he did somehow plug the d-block which is solid and rated for 30k psi. i assume he threaded a solid plug into the hole the banjo went in

Sorry for the confusing post,If i had a pic it would prob help:eek:

I have mine blocked off and I would love to get enough pressure out of both cp3s to blow them up:D But i doubt it will ever happen

I just dont want to see someone block off the wrong part of the return line as it it all low pressure stuff after it goes out of the pop valve

Simon I belive we need a DIY LB7 shim thread to go along with the LLY and bottle test threads. You seem to have the DIY threads down to a science:D

so where do i need to block it off? and why did the trucks come with a pop off valve if the cp3 wont build enough pressure to blow stuff apart?

Did you do a seach on this because i think a few members have posted pics

I ended up taking the valve and welding it shut IIRC Sorry it been a while

I think they probably have to have it legally to cover there ass is something where to happen

Cool thanks for clearing it up. So did you notice anything difference after doing it?

Blocking off the bolt that comes out of the end of the fuel block. The head of this bolt is pointing at the passenger side head. I guess you can tap it and put a plug in it, if that is correct.

This is a write up (its only pictures) of how 2500HeavyDuty did it. He tapped and pluged that banjo bolt. I dont know, I am with you though, i am confused as to what is supposed to be plugged.

The banjo bolt is hollow with holes in the side to allow the injector and cp3 return fuel to pass through the sides and the FPR valve to bypass through the center. Most of the Dodge guys block theirs by tapping the end 1/8" NPT and using a allen plug that recesses just slightly below the end of the banjo bolt. On my Dodge I slid a small round piece of steel in the end of the banjo bolt and Tig'ed it closed. Just make sure you don't block the side holes and the injector/cp3 return.
