Hello ladies and gents. Just wondering if anybody out there had this similar problem. I was told that my fuel gauge was off. It still works but it may be off. Does anybody know how to fix this? It is an 02 chevy silverado with the lb7. Thanks

Sending unit? My buddy just put one in his lb7. My dad has an 02 gasser did weird things we dropped a new one in all is well. It would fluctuate tho you would fill it an it would say half tank.

What was the code?
A gauge or sender won't ever give you a check engine light.

Moved into gauges section

02 is probably the sender in the tank. The rheostat is probably wearing out.

Ok ill scan it again and see what the codes are. I feel dumb for not doin that. Was driving it and for some reason the gauge went all the way to empty and the low fuel light came on. After driving it went back to normal. Stopped at a store and shut the truck off. Started it again and everything was normal from there on.

If at anytime the ECM sees activity from the sender it doesn't think should occur, it defaults the fuel gauge to empty and sets the low fuel light off. There are a few codes that the ECM can trip for the sender, but I don't think any of them should turn the light on.

The check engine light is off. Its doing exactly what your describing by setting the fuel gauge to empty and turing on the low fuel light
