2002 LB7 with 232K miles. I want to show a DIY project that I did on my truck some time ago. I made a cold air box from scratch. I added a scoop to the fender well to direct air in plus I built a air dam into the fog light opening and using ducting routed the air into the box. Sort of copied the banks system on the fog light air scoop into the box, got the idea to mod the box from a diesel page DIY but later saw a similar thing on the Kennedy site and can't remember where I bought the fender scoop from. I think I overachieved by adding both but thought I would show some pics in case someone might want to try it. I bought the truck with 218K on it so not real concerned about trying to keep anything pristine. I just need to keep the engine running. I used foam as air dams to control what air is allowed into the air box.

I got the fog light duct and ducting from Pegasus Auto Racing Supplies.

I'd do many things for air before cutting my fender

Overall I like it!

Even though I think the fender vent is a good idea [Many big trucks and even Ford does this] I probably couldn't trust myself to cut a hole in my fender. The rust belt would disappear my fender in one or two seasons.

I have been wanting to draw air from outside the engine bay for my stock box and the fender and this seems like a budget minded way to accomplish that.

I've got a few questions though.
1. Where did you get the True Flow pipe?
2. What size, length, and type brake duct hose did you use? 3" diameter and 3' long high temp?
3. Which did you use a square or rectangle lower vent?

I'm putting this on my list and ordering some parts. Should be ideal for all the highway driving I do.

I made a fender vent on my old 6.2 turbo half ton, let's just say this looks way better than the one I threw together. Where did you buy that vent cover on the fender?

Why do I keep doing this?

took some guts to cut that hole in the fender. I know I wouldnt. Nice job.

Have you logged IATs now to see what kind of difference your mods made?
