I have been struggling trying to get my truck running right I have a 64 mm billet ihi that won't clean up the smoke at wot. My truck gets high egts pulling a 20' bass boat i have boost tested the truck found a small pin hole in the intercooler and a hole in driver side intercooler pipe but with no big gains. My boost is right around 29psi and with my turbo I should be in the upper 38-39 area I live at 5500 ft in emigration could this be my problem I have also changed the manifold and up pipe gaskets no leaks there. Any suggestions thanks also I have trucks in same area with stock turbos that will walk away from me in a race on the upper end

Ok thanks I will check the wast gate flap and sorry for posting in the wrong place this was my first post. I also have a banks wastgate and I have it adjusted so it won't open and yes the boost leaks and exhaust leaks are fixed I have boost tested it a dozen times thanks

Has it been like this since you put it on or was it running good for a while?

Who tuned it?

It was tuned with duramax tuner max effert tune I sent them my data log they couldn't find anything to adjust said it probably a boost leak. The turbo is only about 3 months old when I first installed it had a deeper exhaust note but now it almost seems to have gone back to the old tone thanks and how freely should the turbo wheel spin mine will turn for about 2 seconds with a pretty good flick almost seems a little resistance thanks

so I have a update I took my wastgate arm of and I can hear the wastgate flap hitting my down pipe but this isn't to say it's not half broke or bent my question is if I do a boost test from my turbo and say I put a nylon glove on the down pipe and it bows off or fills up will this also confirm that my gate is bad before I have to tear off down pipe?

leave the arm off and go drive it. if it drives the same as before, your missing your flap. if it becomes very laggy and smokey, your flap is still there.

X2, this is an easy way to test.
Was it smoking before you swapped turbos?
Did you just machine the cover and install the billet wheel or did you do something else with the turbo?
Do you see any soot around the turbo like its leaking any were?
