I have a tune I purchased and one I built from Pat's class months ago.

I have tried both but the truck still won't shift over about 3200rpm. What am I missing? I have raised the shift points for the tcm, do I need to adjust something for the ecm also? The truck runs and shifts the same with the stock tune in it.

Yea, you will have to line up everything on ECM tune so that it operate properly up to your max RPM. Also, there is a rev limiter area in the ECM tune that a couple options/parameters need to be modified.

And it sounds like you have the TCM part taken care of.

One time, I altered just the ECM tuning for raising the rev limiter and I was able to hit about 3400rpm or so. I'm guessing you missed something in the engine tune.

If he has his TCM modded correctly it won't shift until it gets to the correct speed/RPM for it to shift. It will just sit at the rev limiter if the ECM isn't modded for it, but the TCM will not shift if it is modded correctly.

The tunes are ones I have paid for so I'm not sure I should post them...I am not really up on proper "information" sharing...so let me know if I should post them or not.

Chris I will send them to you.

Also as an after thought one of the tunes is "the bacs" tune that he said he was able to run 3700 rpms with....but I sure couldn't.

In the ECM tables go to table 0723 and enable this one then go to 0724 and disable this one make sure your rev limits are taken care of in the same section. In your tcm make sure that your wot shifts at rpm is adjusted for your preferences. This should make the tranny shift at the desired rpm. If you have a problem and it does not work pm me and I will send you a tranny tune that should work.

Shift points are modified in the TCM, not the ECM. The TCM tune you're trying to modify to shift at 3700 is a purchased tune? Make the same changes to a stock tune that YOU made to try to make it shift at 3700 and let us see what else, if anything, needs to be changed.

Yes they are but if you want it to use the rpm for shift those tables in the ecm need to be changed.

I know, but he wasn't asking about how to get more RPMs. He was asking about how to get it to shift at 3700 RPM. That's why I'm trying to see how he raised his shift points. If it is still shifting the same, obviously they aren't modded correctly. Are the different tunes he's trying ECM or TCM tunes? The ECM tunes won't change shift points if that's what he's changing. Just trying to keep from causing too much confusion.

Those tables don't increase rpm's they allow the tranny to shift by rpm/speed not tcm/speed. That is why all the tranny variables can be right and it still shift at the factory 3200 rpm. By changing those the limiter then will be his tranny tuning. Just a suggestion, not trying to argue a point. Check it out and see if it works.

I looked back thru our PMs and couldnt find where I said I shifted that high. I am sorry if i made you think it did. I'll have to go thru a log or two to see what I shift at.

hey bac, mind if we take a look at it?

Dumb question of the day: Take a look at what?

Brad, everything's ok. I dont think we ever talked about what you were trying to do. As for EFI, I just dont know that much about it other than scanning. Im scared shitless to try tuning...

Tom I think he wanted to see the tunes. I don't feel comfortable posting them since its really not mine. I have a friend looking at them now. If there are changes made I will post what was done to make it work. Thanks Tom.

Went back and looked at the logs of my two fastest runs, done on the same day last year.

1-2 shift ~ 3500rpm
2-3 shift ~ 3500rpm
3-4 shift ~ 3400rpm
4-5 shift ~ 3350rpm
