knocking sound when running, still can't find the problem

Well i pulled more off and leak down test seemed fine but when I roll the motor over with the starter it's like it pips threw the intake, I took a video and will try to post

Sounds like bent pushrods or valves. May luck you and have one set way out of adjustment

check rail pressure.mine is doing the same thing from maxed rail.hopefully not a train prob.hope ya get it fixed.

X2 I had the same issue. Turn out maxed rail!

mine will do it when you crank it over with the starter, what was the cause of your maxed out fuel pressure?

cranked it over with a push button on the starter, pulled ignition fuse 1 and 2 and fuel pump fuse, also have passenger injector lines off and passenger valve cover. so I don't think its fuel pressure

If pump fuse is pulled it will max rail out so you wont find the prob that way.Check voltage at fpr plug.Possible a rocker bridge is knocked off?checked valve adjustment?Check your rail with efi.

He is not starting the engine so there is no way it is maxing rail pressure. He is only turning it over with the starter and hearing the popping noise. It is more than likely a valvetrain problem.

I was getting the same pop from my hood stack while cranking and thought for sure I f ed up valves,timing,ect,ect but ended up being a max rail pressure prob.Op,Do you have a way to check?It very well could be a valve train prob but should eliminate the easy stuff first.

Mine is poping threw the intake not the exhaust and my fuel lines aren't even hooked up right now cause im pulling the valve covers off to check them out, is there anyway to roll the motor over with out the starter? also have most of the glowplugs out

use the harmonic

Use the Harmonic dampener bolt or if you have the acc belt still connected, you can use the allen stud on the alternator.
