I received and installed my new head unit. I replaced my Alpine W505 with this. This is a excellent unit, I would recommend this to all:

Wow that is really nice, did you need to do any trimming on the interior of the dash?

No.

When installing the dash kit, make sure to set it on the radio as low as possible so it will clear the lower trim under it. Kenwood also sent the piece that you see around the radio to cut to fit to give it that clean look.

07 Sierra Classic Audio Install

Looking for help with audio purchase and install.
I was looking at purchasing a Kenwood DNX 9140 head unit now that I have seen your install I will definately be purchasing.
A couple questions though.

Were you able to keep all of your steering wheel functions? If so did you have to purchase other hardware for this?

Did you install aftermarket subs, amps, and speakers?

I have an 07 Sierra Classic 2500 HD Extended Cab W/O the Bose System.

Any input or advice is much appreciated

For the steering wheels you will need the PAC SWI Jack. It plug into the back of the unit, and then you connect the wires under the steering wheel and program the unit. I haven't got around to doing this yet with mine, most say it's not hard. I like using the remote anyways. :D

I did have a 1800 W amp with a Kenwood Sub hooked up but I've taken it out as I needed the room in the backseat.

You will need the PAC OS2 wiring harness also, it takes your factory radio plugs and lets you wire up your aftermarket radio to the factory wires, etc.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Looks nice :D

I'm going with the Z110bt I think, I like the caller interface better than the 9140

Still a sweet headunit

edit Blink 182 = awesome

My 02 currently has the DIN and a half opening. So what model year did GM change from the DIN and a half to double DIN? Is there any chance I could just change the outer dash trim to get the double DIN opening? I would prefer to have a double DIN if it's possible.

Get an 03+ bezel and an 03+ radio basket. It's pretty easy to do from what I've seen.

Thanks! I'll look in to that.

Do you know if the AC unit below the radio on the 03+ is as tall as the AC unit on the 02s? That's one area I am concerned I may have a problem with.
