Hello guys, I recently purchased a 2004 DMax LLY at auction and "as-is". The story was it didn't run cause wife put gasoline in it... I towed it home, disconnected tank and ran fresh diesel in it, replaced fuel filter, and it fired up. I'm pretty sure it needs head gaskets because of the "hard upper hose the next morning", but before I sink a lot of $$ into it replacing those gaskets, I want to see what else is wrong.... currently it will not hold a prime, and goes into limp mode if I try to accelerate hard (fuel system limp 2k rpm max). Also heavy blue smoke at hard acceleration. I'm hooked back up to fuel tank now with fresh fuel and stenodyne additive, but some of the old fuel was still in tank.(1 or 2 gal) What could be causing the limp mode? Could the bad fuel filter head cause limp mode? would be nice to fix the fuel problem first then decide if I want to repair head gasket or sell the truck...
