I've been reading this and other forums for about a year now and figured I would finally join. I just bought this 2005 Duramax at an auction today and already love it. It has a ton more power than my F-150, I can't wait to tow with it.

Having read hundreds of posts, I already have a long shopping list of mods and accessories. Planning on a 6" Zone lift, 35" Toyo's wrapped around some black 20" wheels. Looking at either 4" or 5" straight exhaust and going in on EFI Live with a friend. Going to spray in a bedliner and install a transfer tank for long road trips. Inside I'm going to be tinting the windows, installing a double din stereo and some extra gauges. I can't wait to see what it's going to look like when it's done.

Ah, I rarely get that far north. I've lived here in Wasilla for the last 22 years. But there's a couple other Fairbanks members on here too. Maybe you already know them.

Day three and here is what I have ordered for the truck.
Two keyless entry fobs.
Diamond Eye 4" turbo back exhaust
Autometer pillar with boost/egt gauges
Ebay used Pioneer avic-z1 7" head unit
Precut window tint 20% all around
Coverking custom fit seat covers
EGR blocker plate

That should get me started anyways. Going to get the hardware for the PCV reroute and resonator delete tonight.

you will be saving yourself a lot of time and suffering if you just do sleeves now, or get a different tie rod all together. like kryptonites

If Scott gets some hot hoe like Vana to show up on his posts I wouldn't mind playing...

Maybe he wants this guy to get more Omega 3 fish oils in his diet?

I finished the PCV valve reroute, and removed the resonator tonight. I also replaced both tie rods but there is still a clunking in the front end when I'm on gravel roads. I'm guessing it might be the intermediate steering shaft. I also noticed that the truck has brand new brake pads and rotors so that is a plus. The turbo seemed a little louder without the resonator.

You can grab the shaft under the dash and give it a shake... If it moves at all it's the POS plastic bearing, White on the earlier trucks and green on the later models. Green is the uupdated bearing. Steering shaft on my truck would only rattle while turning. Bearing under the dash was with the wheels straight.
