might be a long shot here but something i am interested in at the moment

anyone know where to pick up something like a Westinghouse J-34?
Maybe a ballpark price for one as well....

Also any recommendations on builders/fabricators with jet car experience in the southwest area?

back in high school, every tri-mester at boarding school we had to do an after school sport/theater/extracurricular activity. One winter trimester (I think my junior year?) I didnt want to do a sport, and I had seen guys who made jet engines out of old turbocahrgers, so I thought that would be something kinda cool. I wrote up a proposal, the school kinda laughed (its pretty small and everyone knows everybody really well) and said "only you ben...yes you can sub that in for your extra-curricular activity"

so I bought a huge ass garrett turbo off a detroit diesel on ebay for cheap and then built the jet engine. It runs off diesel and makes a pretty darn good amount of thrust. And it is as loud as, and literally sounds like a 747. :D

here is the only picture I could find, I know I have more detailed ones around here somewhere...

when I find more pics I post more stuff about it.

all my frineds and teachers asked why, I just said why not?? :joker:

Not for the duramax, although I do need a motor for it so it would be the perfect time to try.

I am gathering some parts up out of Roswell, NM (my parents live down there) and I want to try something if the cost is not too crazy.

I also was thinking about a diesel powered jet engine.

My buddy came up with a contraption and for it to work we need something with about about 3-5k lbs of thrust to make the project even worth it.

I dont care if its on the verge of exploding at this point just need pointed in a good direction.

Anybody ever messed with something like this...?
