I jailbroke mine with "greenpoison". I like it, and it hasn't messed my phone up at all.

What carrier are you with, plus what software is on your phone. If you updated it to IOS 5 the jailbreak isnt out yet. Apparently its in the testing stage right now, but i have my iphone jailbroken, and love it. I basically have everything that IOS 5 has to offer, just a tad different. Once the jailbreak is out for IOS 5 i'll do it again. The funny part is that apple pays these people that jailbreak the phones and take their ideas and put them into the software or new phones...

Okay, with a jailbreak you get an app called installous, it is pretty much an app store where you can get any application for free. You can do a lot more, like change the carrier name on the top left, change the slider arrow color, the text message bubble colors. Their is much more, but definitely a great thing to do!

Have they improved the jailbreak system? I mean does the phone run a lot slower and freeze up all the time? I'd like to do it but a couple friends of mine did it a couple years ago and it pretty much destroyed their phones. So I've been kinda scared to try. I have a 3Gs with AT&T.

Yeah, well everything is evolving and nothing is ever perfect. I am kinda an (apple nerd) so i read up on the forums, but i need to look it up, but i think there is a website that lets you jailbreak your phone from the phones internet on that website. I'll keep you updated, as i recall last time, they only had it out for the AT&T iphones.

Wherever I am working
I tried green poison. The "loader" icon on my phone simply does nothing. Is it supposed to do that or what? I am confused on the jailbreak, do I have to open the "loader" or can I just go to an app store like installous or cydia and download apps?

PM me if you prefer.

I'm with AT&T I've jailbroke every iPhone I've had. I do it mainly for tethering and themes. If you go to modmyi.com and read the latest you can maby have it jailbroke depending what version os you are on

Jailbreakme.com I believe was the Internet one for older ios's. I used lime rain Iirc when I went to ios4. It worked very well never had a issue with it. I just "upgraded" to ios5 and now my phone sucks. As I'm typing this I can type a whole word before it even loads. Wtf. I need to figure out how to go back to ios4.

With limerain you have to plug your phone into the laptop. Clear out iTunes if it pops up and then open the limerain program. It will tell you to hold the buttons a certain way at a certain time then bam it's all done. then you can do what you want with cydia and all.
