Pat bought an Isspro ESP system for Casper. It is a datalogger that uses a PC. It will record data from Isspro gauges on your hard-drive, or you can use it without gauges. It is designed specifically for diesel racing, and it's fairly low cost.

Pat is going to be hooking it up today so hopefully we can record differential temperature, boost (LBZ's can't rescale), and EGT's.

EFILive will still be used to record engine data, but the Isspro will get info that EFILive won't, and has lots of channels and available sensors for them. Looks like it can record 16 channels, 2 pyros, 8 pressure sensors, and 6 temp sensors.

What it's normal use is, is for recording your gauges. If you need aftermarket gauges anyways, it's nice to have the option of recording from them when you want to.

Those are pricey arent they? If you dont mind me asking Kat. Ive been kind of thinking about a set up like that for my truck, maybe next year.

I don't have the retail price list in front of me, we are probably talking about $1000 retail including ESP CPU, sensors, gauges, etc, for a typical truck. A Racepak or similiar race data recorder is $3000+. It is expandable, so the price depends on how many gauges and sensors you want. The gauges "daisy chain" so you don't have to rewire to add more gauges.

If you need gauges anyways, and think you might want to record data in the future, if you get Isspro gauges that are ESP compatible, you can just add the ESP recorder later on.

I want to swap to a SPA setup

We have had terrible luck with SPA reliability wise. They were about $500 per gauge, and failed in under a year. We went through 2 of them, and gave up. They do not warranty anything, they have no customer service, poor instructions, no replacement sensors when theirs burn out. It took 3 months to buy for us.

But others have had good luck with SPA. After two tries and $1000 we gave up. This was just for boost and EGT.

I love the isspro performax line. We have 6 gauges all with recall and the logging feature. I've not used the logging yet, but if you guys need a contact at isspro Kat, let me know. Michael is very knowledgable on the logging side of things.

The price is really pretty reasonable. We got our 6 gauges, electronic sensors, and esp set-up for well under 1000.00

Yes, we met Michael at SEMA a couple years and discussed this with him when it was in the development stage. He's a hardcore gearhead and a really nice guy. He has been a great help with info on the system.

We aren't running the gauges since Pat seldom looks at much other than the tach and GPS when racing.

Pat got it working. The boost sensor goes to 99psig. It's very easy to run the software. You plug the cable into your USB port. Launch the software. Hit ENTER to record, and SPACEBAR to stop. No mouse, no typing, it automatically makes text files with the info.

Yup, you view the data in Excel (or any other spreadsheet). We're in the process of putting together some templates to post on our website, to help avoid "reinventing the wheel" for viewing the data.

Any updates on this? I'm on phone so searching their site to find more info became cumbersome so I gave up.

I need to talk to Michael I think because of what all I'll need (all gauges for dash in the 83 plus the extras we all want :D ). :)

Talking to Michael is going to be your best bet. We haven't done anything with Casper since this last post.
