Is my truck tuned or what? failure !

Totally I limped my transmission. Or I think I did. Either that or fuel pressure is too low. Engine Hangs at 2000 rpm and transmission wont engage unless I let off a little.

I know it will smoke white if I punch it with a very low tank, but will smoke thick black in the same conditions with a full tank.:confused:

I've always felt this truck pulled too much for a crew cab dually with 32" .
Maybe it's tuned and it finally got the transmission?

Only 217 000 miles, that's lame if it's really the trans. Anyways, that's why I never bought ANY automatic trucks before haha.

Still works but it hates fast accel. slow and steady does it even with trailer.

Time to look at the prices of parts i guess.

funny I was reading about that a few hours ago. I'll buy the line disconnect tool and do a bottle test.

Is having to shim it a sure cause of a tune? If the truck is stock shouldnt the fprv do the job or do they wear out?

hehe hope that's my problem. But this limp and the white smoke at low tank is two clues in the direction of fuel pressure issues.

ordered a fuel line disconnect tool and will do a bottle test when I get it

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

changed fuel filter about 2000 km ago.

I've had white smoke only at very very low tank. And even then no smoke unless I floor it. I don't see white smoke unless tank is low...ever

I don't know if injectors are original, but I would assume so. The wiring of the first injector on driver side has been fixed once, a wire had broken off.
I'd like to look at my balance rates but I dont have the means to do so right now. I'll eventually buy efilive for monitoring purpose ( I dont need any more power, only tow 12 000lbs here and there) I need a duramax buddy in Montreal ;)

When it limps, I don't have the black smoke I have when it really goes. So Im thinking those guys saying my FPRV is having issues are right

limits engine to 2000rpm, no acceleration, no black smoke and it feels like the transmission applys the gear, find the engine cant do it, and only retries once im backed up. then it engage an higher gear in a way that rpm will drop under 2000 and works fine like nothing happens as long as you drive normally

I'm gonna go and have a look at my FPRV, see how far it's tucked in there
