Is an 01 Alison bellhousing unique?

I know a guy that after installing new ujoints and doing over 100mph and something letting loose the transmission rubber mount broke the bellhousing on the trans shattered and it took out the rear motor plate.

He was told by the gm dealer and some transmission warehouse in Kentuckey both told him that 01 d max Allisons bolt up slightly differant as far as the motor plate to the bellousing.Ive never heard this before and im wondering if theres any truth to this?

'01,'02, and early '03 are the same and are interchangable. Late '03 through early '07 are interchangable and will fit the early models with the GM cooler adapters.

Is the cooler adapters the only differance Mike as far as bolting up they should all be the same bolt pattern correct? and Thank you very much Mike

thanks for throwing this up for him scott. it is the bell housing to the trans that they told him is different. motor plate to bell housing is fine. supposedly on the 01 where the bell housing mounts to the trans it has a different bolt pattern than later allisons...also interested in purchasing a bell housing to help him get his truck back on the road

You can bolt an 01 bellhousing to ANY of the ALLISON 1000, 2000, and 2400's I believe up to 2010. But like Mike said, 01, 02, to early 03 are all the SAME bellhousing. And a 03-07 bellhousing can be interchanged to an earlier truck with the special cooler adapter fittings.

They are wrong. Bell housing to trans bolt pattern is the same to '13. '07.5 bell housing eliminated the input speed sensor. So the '07.5 bell housing will not retro back because of the missing hole for the input sensor.
