I dont know if this happens a lot or if it was just my truck but I had been having some issues with my gauges. They got to where only oil pressure and volts worked, but if I pushed trip reset they all come on. Called around and everyone said it was probably a short in the circuit board of the cluster. So I bought a new cluster and put it in, still same problem. This annoyed me so I slammed the door shut and walked away, when I got in the truck to go somewhere they worked fine. And kept working all summer. But a few days ago when we got a little cool snap they started acting up again doing the same thing. I was relatively sure it wasn't the cluster at this point. come to find out it was the interior fuse panel causing my problem the whole time. If I squeezed the fuse panel together with my hand everything worked. So I got a junkyard one yesterday and put it in, everything is good to go! And the fuse box can come out of any silverado, gas diesel 1/2 3/4 ton does not matter. All that matters is the options match, both 4wd, power windows locks seats etc.
Just wanted to share this in case someone else out there has a beat up old truck with electrical gremlins.
