What color is that?
Is it listed as 992 or RPO# 92I
If so use SEM 17163. Its transparent. This was on an un prepped surface with about 5-6 coats until you could no longer see it. Paint is still wet in the picture. You should do light coats and wait for it to dry. Too heavy and it will lift the edges of the existing paint. Patience is the key. I only did this to prove a point to some one.
Don't use any solvent or alcohol. Only warm soapy water.
On my other old truck I had the same issue some one used something and got between the instrument cluster bezel and the top of the dash and bubbled the paint like paint stripper. this took some work and experimentation. but you cant even tell were i blended or the difference between an OEM part that wasn't painted. This is a darker color 69D or 69I. This is SEM 17223 Very Dk. Pewter

Looks to be the same color as mine but I’ll have to check my rpo. Mine is an ‘03 Silverado and I think the 05+ is a little different shade but with the right blending I feel I can make it look good. There’s actually a couple other small spots from before I bought it I’d like to tune up anyways.

I believe the 99-02 is a different color. We had this argument on performance trucks a few weeks back. LOL
Any way. Just about everything with solvent will attack the interior paint. Including alcohol based products. I even tried to use an adhesion promotor and it lifted the paint at the broken edges.
Best thing is warm soapy water to remove oil/dirt. I used a light colored pad and some fine sand paper where I had to blend edges from it lifting.
If it Lifted a little I let it dry, waited, scuffed it up just to knock the top off and then very lightly went over it and let it dry. and then repeat.
Oh I forgot to mention the light 92I above is on my 05 LLY

Something like that... I sold my 00 so long ago I don't remember. Funny, I still have the OEM add on fog light kit for that truck I never installed...
In the 99-02 they had like 5 colors.
In the trucks 03- up, I believe it was 3. I think one was a Tan color, Light grey, and the Dark grey. I know the avalanche had a black and the SUVs did 2tones.
I believe these are it for the truck 03-07 classic.

OK, I am putting this here for future cross reference. I know for sure these SEM Classic Coat Colors work on the 03-07 classic interior.
The first color is based off of feed back from 2 different sources saying that was a match to that interior color code. The last 2 colors I have personally verified.
52D/52I 522 = SEM 17183 Med. Neutral
69D/69I 692 = SEM 17223 Very Dk. Pewter
92D/92I 922 = SEM 17163 Med. Dk. Pewter

!!!WARNING!!! DO NOT USE THE ADHESION PROMOTOR OR THE PLASTIC CLEANER... They are Solvent based and will lift the paint off the plastic when you go to wipe them.
I recommend washing with Warm soapy water. Do not use anything with a Solvent or Alcohol. If you still think you Know Better, Test in a small inconspicuous area like on the back side.

If any one knows for sure on the 99-02 Colors and what matches it would be great to add here as well.
i do know the Tan interior color between 02 and 03 changed. the 03 is slightly lighter than 01-02.
That's good to know. Some time's they recycled the code but the formulation changed.
I know the real early trucks you could get a blueish color but it may have been a 1-2 year only thing.
If any one does any repairs and can verify which color works with which color interior and on which year range that would be helpful as well.
Same if they have any other tips or tricks that work or help.
I had charcoal interior on my 04 also. not really a dark gray as it was darker but not quite black. I'm pretty sure it was called charcoal on mine too
Maybe it was a carry over from the earlier years? either of you still have a vin you want to share with me? I can have the dealer look it up and see if we can find out the interior color code.
