Not sure if this has been listed anywhere as a sticky or not but thought it might be worthy of one. If it has been covered before I appologize. I think it would be great idea to list what stock parts can be swapped over from one generation of Duramax to another to get performance increases that would be fairly cheap with all the good used stock parts around.

I.E. - Using LB7 boost tubes hot and cold side and the intake horn to swap onto a LLY to delete the EGR and get better flowing pipes for a fraction of what they would cost buying brand new pieces.

Post up with any good info a proven swapable parts and maybe we can make a sticky somewhere. Or if there is already a sticky throw me a link

An LB7 intake horn wont work/fit on an LLY turbo. The LBZ intake tube will fit an LLY, though, and many people have swapped those.

Lbz cp3 with regulator
Lml exhaust manifold( no kink and way cheaper)
Lbz rods (for budget build)

In general an lbz should swapped in into all dmax's. :D

lb7 pistons in an lbz for a budget build

and believe you can use an lbz block for and lb7 build as i was told they are stronger blocks.Someone knowing if this is true will chime in i hope.

I was referring to the intake horn as the intake bridge that has the piece of pipe cast into the bridge with it. Unlike an LLY that has the 90* looking elbow that has an Oring on it. The bridge portion should be a direct swap out to eliminate the EGR.

You can't really use that with an LLY either unless you come up with another turbo intake pipe.

Thats what I plan to do. I want to make something that is better and straighter than the LLY setup or even the LBZ more like a LB7 and with the cold side boost tube moved more out of the way I think it should be fairly easy.
