LB7: Intakes that support 550hp

I ran a swiss cheezed air box and a Super Diesel hogged out turbo inlet on my '04 LB7. truck hauled ass pretty good. I also removed the IAH.
LB7/LLY intakes do limit after about 500HP, the LBZ/LMM can support well over 600HP. Do like MIKE L said and run a GOOD quality DONALDSON filter in your stock box and it should keep up with a stock turbo just fine.
On my old truck I just used a small grinder and cut a 5x4 inch hole in the stock box, got a abs pipe cap to block off what I would call the silencer, The plastic piece that says Duramax 6.6 on top of the motor and put a square k&n filter in. good to 500-550 no problem, that being said I'm now running a 5 inch intake to feed the BD850 (s475). stock charger seems to be fine with stock intake with a good filter
K&N filters actually flow less air than a stocker after just a few miles of driving. It shocks most people, but they only outflow a stock filter for a short time before they plug and flow even less. Quite a few peopel have run the blue DONALDSON stock replacement filters and not pulled teh filter minder down much on a max effort stock engine/turbo tune.
