I recently bought a 4806V viper auto start and am having it installed tomorrow. I have read some mixed thoughts on the affects of installing the auto start has with a tuned truck. Is there anything that i should do prior to installation? Should i take the tunes off of the truck? Will there be any communication problems between the viper and my tunes? If it means anything i switch tunes with and edge CS. Any help is greatly appreciated.

No problem. Especially if you have the factory theft deterrent disabled in the tune. That'll make it even easier to install as you won't need the security override box.

I have been installing remote start system's for at least 15 years. The only issue's I have seen with tuned trucks is the service brake warning on remote start. I have had a half dozen trucks do this over the years, mine included(lol). I would leave the tunes in myself, as loading tunes back over the bypass may cause you issues.

Auto start is installed and works great! But my the factory gauge readings on my edge are now "sluggish" they still work but they are not instant like before. Has anyone experienced this?

Does removing the fuse to the alarm as suggested by EFI prevent this.?

I have the same issues and would like to know how to fix or if it can be fixed. This is what mine does.
The alarm was installed with tunes in the truck and the CTS runs slow and will not conect to the truck unless I let it load first with the key at the first click. If I try to just start the truck or have the key in the on possition before the CTS loads it says no truck detected.

I have been told that this is due to how the alarm is wired into the OB port and that it can be rewired differently to fix the problem but I have not looked into it yet.

The only issues I have had with EFI is if and when I flash the truck the alarm stops working properly. But then the cts starts working just fine. I have found that if I disconect the batterys then reconect them the alarm will work again and the cts goes back to being slow. Also when I flash for the first time I can not use the high speed it does not work. After the first time it will work but only until I reset the alarm.

im not sure if your the same person who PM'ed me on duramaxforums but ill answer this too just to be safe.

old body trucks do NOT have chipped keys, but they do have an immobilizer in the ignition cylinder that uses a 2 wire resistor and reference system (passlock 2) to validate the cylinder is being turned and its not just being "hot wired" or what not. the remote start has a couple different ways around this. there is a 2 relay bypass that uses a resistor to defeat the immobilizer and as far as the truck is concerned there is someone in the seat turning the key. this method will NEVER cause conflicts or data collisions as long as its installed properly. you CANNOT use a single relay passlock 2 bypass on a silverado you MUST use a 2 relay bypass or you will get a security light during take over. you can also use a module like a FLCAN, DBALL (dont use a DBALL) ALCA, fortin ect, that will present the vehicle with pass lock information through the data bus at the OBDII, this is where people can some times run into issues, if the module is talking on the bus, then a scanner plugged into the OBDII cannot. This issue however is not present on the NBS and NNBS trucks because the remote start does not integrate into the OBDII port.

so long story short, you will likely be fine. i would pull the remote start fuses if your going to flash a tune, if you have an OBS truck, then the relay method is bullet proof, but i have rarely seen issues with an FLCAN or ALCA module as they allow scanner passthrough which lets the module deactivate when it detects a scanner plugged in.

I have a switch I flip and a wire tap I disconnect before I flash the truck.
If I don't disconnect I won't get the green light to flash.
