I'm close to there (La Verne, San Dimas) on a regular basis. What exhaust?

You're really only looking at about a 1-1/2 hour job total.

I haven't purchased the exhaust yet because I was waiting to find out a place to get it installed. I live in a condo that doesn't allow working on cars and I really don't have the time anymore to work on anything regardless. I am thinking of running an MBRP 4" turbo back exhaust (or something comparable to that) and would like to dump the exhaust under the truck. The EGR plate concerns me a lot more though because I have read and heard that it is a pain to install...

Yes of its for the LMM it is a pain. But as Greg asked do you have anything to take care of the codes?

Actually, i already talked to McRat a couple times, and I was going to go with EFI Live from him to get some extra power and take care of the codes. The only other thing on the list for now is a Transgo Jr to hold a little extra power for now.
I am thinking of doing the EGR plate, exhaust, Transgo jr, and EFI Live (90 hp or so tune) until I can afford to do more (building trans etc.) Thanks for the replies!!

You can do the exhaust goods yourself with basic hand tools. If you do find someone to install the exhaust/blocker plate, please don't broadcast the installation shop. It could cost them a lot of money. The likelyhood of you finding a shop is going to be slim to none for a DPF delete though. I can walk you through the steps if you would like to do it your self.

Chad, thanks for the advice. I have worked on cars quite a bit before (but not diesels), I just don't have the time or the area to work on cars right now. If it comes down to that I may just have to put it off for a while until I find some time. I'm going to try following a couple more leads and see if I have any luck.

As long as it's an "off-road only" vehicle, you should be able to find some help...

Maybe I should install it for you .

Im no shop , just a driveway diesel junkie with alot of tools .

If everything is there to install complete and it doesnt need to go on a lift , all should go smooth . Is it lifted or stock height ? I have a welder to spot some connections or to keep tailpipe from twisting over hard bumps . Done that for a few that like to twist on connection over axle . And spotting the tip so nobody snakes it .

Havnt done one with DPF , but how hard can it be . Done earlier models .

I have many friends that have done it , so advise would be there if stuck . Dont think that is needed though . Should be a no brainer . Just a pain to get out on the ground .

Once you get all that crap out of the way the rest is easy . Well kinda , the downpipe is always a bitch . Getting to the bolts and clamp . Its tight up there by firewall .

Im in Santa Ana . 5/55 frwys . You work weekends ? Whats your schedule ?

The blocker I have done many , it is just a pain to get bolts loose . I know of a few that have snapped the bolt trying to loosen . Trick is to use penetrant and go from driverside and pull towards you . The right short wrench too . And watch the knuckles . :D

10 minutes for that if it goes smooth , 20 if it is being a pain .

I will probably be the most reasonable in the $$ department also .

Thanks for all the responses! It looks like I will at least be able to find someone to help me out with some space and extra hands. My schedule is really variable because I am in school right now, but I don't think I will have a weekend for about a month.
I'm going to call a vendor and get the parts ordered for now so they will be ready to go.
I was planning on putting the exhaust and EGR plate on, then getting the tune done after. Other than the light display on my dash will I have any problems driving the truck around a little?
Also, I will be at the Pismo dunes next weekend (President's Day), is anyone else going to be out there?

With the LMM it would be best to do the tune at the same time. I am not sure but I think the truck might go into limp mode if it is not getting input from the DPF related stuff. I have driven mine home from the dealer after an OS update and it made it home fine but I reloaded a tune right after. It might be fine for a little bit but doing it at the same time would be safest.
