Had my ats converter fail (shutter,poor Lock up ) removed pan filter cut apart and check for converter clutch,metal and material in pan . Nothing abnormal in pan or filter. Now my question, What are your guys thoughts or procedure on deciding if trans should come apart before converter replacement or not ? Anything else to look at ? Thanks

Also only about 2,000 mi on trans .

new stage 5 ppe with a used ats converter i had ,all good til i got poor lock up,shudder and trans over heating, parked as soon as it started to act up. fluid looks and smells new . no codes all shifts were great .

also entire trans,bearings,bushings, good and tolerances right on spec with ppe install sheet .

I assume it was done by someone that has done many of them? If the builder needed the instruction sheet he is worthless. Sorry, I got off topic.
Your choice in converters was not a good one especialy if it was used up. ( doesn't take much on an ATS ) If you and your builder are sure it's the converter, change it asap before it puts trash in your trans.

ya agreed on converter tried to save a buck (should of known better) truck has not been driven since first signs of these issues
