Injectors

Just found this forum while trying to established a price. I have an '04 GMC 2500 4x4 with 202K mile. It smokes quite a bit at idle. Mechanic told me it needs injectors and would cost about 1800 bucks to replace with OEM. Does this all sound about right? First diesel I have owned other than a backhoe so not real familiar with repair cost on them.

Yes. 01-04.5 are known for injector issues. That's dirt cheap for them to replace them. Cheapest I found oem Injectors for is 1750. That's with out labor.

i would be leary of what ever injector he is putting i there for that much. thats too good to be true if labor is included for all 8

Fixed it for you LLY's don't have the LB7 injector issues :thumb:

Make sure hes replacing all of them, cheapest I know of is about $3000.00 all 8 replaced on an LB7.

Make sure you get genuine Bosch remans! Lotta junk floating around.
This isn't a cheap procedure, do yourself a favor and buy quality injectors so you're not going through this mess again for a long while:thumb:

2500-3000 for all necessary parts and OEM injectors is the great to good price range, Get references for a goood duramax tech in your area.

1800 would cover labor +tax, and labor only, at a reputable diesel shop, for an lb7.
Injectors typically cost 260-300 ea for bosch replacements, x8 your lookin @ 2400-
Lb7's typically run 4400 around my area, out the door.

Remember, you get what you pay for, and injectors are possibly one of the most important parts of the truck, not to mention one of the most expensive.

Does anyone know for sure if you are getting bosch remans from the dealer when you purchase remans through them? I've gotten some conlicting answers.
