So, swapping over my nozzles, on my last one, all excited that I was just about done, and the small injector puck fell off my magnet, bounced off my hand, never to be seen again:mad::mad:. I'm gonna give it a better look-around in a bit, but if it does not turn up am I really looking at buying a whole new injector? Sometimes stupid hurts I guess.

Yes they shouldn't be mismatched

So I should not just put a random puck on the injector? Should I pull one of the pucks from the other injectors and measure with a micrometer to compare size? Or could the sizes even be different from the injectors on my truck?

Also, one more question, is it necessary to install the injector in the same cylinder that it came out of? Reason I ask, this puck that I lost is for the injector on the #8 cylinder, I found that to be the hardest to get to. I would like to move this injector to a more accessible cylinder (#2) just in case I were to have any issues down the road due to the non-original puck and needed to pull it again.

To elaborate: i too, thought maybe the pucks were different on stock injectors because i got one from huckstorf that was tested amd assembled and was missing the shim. So i took some of the cores i have here and checked them. The lbz and lly ones i have here were identical, the lb7 was a little thicker and larger diameter

Ok thanks Tim:thumb:. Sounds like you have already done the legwork to look into the issue. It certainly would not be very cost-effective for Bosch to manufacture various different size pucks for their stock injectors anyways?? I would think they would stick to one spec.

On edit: Unless they were using different puck sizes do adjust flow rates during factory testing of the injectors. That would be the only thing that would make sense to me.

I do believe that the shims are adjusted at exergy or MFE when the bodies are modified to flow match the tips...but i am pretty confident that stock injectors share the same shims. Fwiw, i had a cracked body in September, swapped in a used injector body and compared shims between my exergy injector and the stock one, and they were the same too. Truck runs fine.
