What you guys opinions on them? Necessary?

My white truck will be at or around 1100-1150hp a hand full of times a year and just wondering if they are completely necessary to get. I always use brand new bolts, coppers, and o-rings each and everytime i pull injectors but would hate to push an injector or something (very unlikely but with my luck id be the first one...)

just looking for opinions here.

Which version Dmax are you talking? I use stock ones in my lb7. I also use screw in cups. On later versions the bolt size and torque are different. Less torque and smaller bolts. Trent had a problem on a triple turbo LBZ pushing the injectors. He upgraded to studs and I think he cured that issue.

I had a stock bolt stretch on my LLY and the injector wrecked my brand new socal head. Ended up costing a lot of money and a lot of time. I think it is well worth the $800 for studs and hold downs.

I agree, I pushed one out and it almost screwed my head up. We did end up being able to fix it but I went with the billet hold downs to avoid the problem again.

My LLY pushed an injector out twice. The first time it ballooned the body, the second time it just blew the machine ball out. Tim Jackson's pushed an injector out on the engine Dyno more than once too.

The cost to fix it when it happens and knowing its gonna happen at full boost, full load, I'd put the good parts on it.

I had two blow. It may have been install error, but I think it was just something tuning wise that didn't agree. Since its been 10000 miles on my built motor, and they both blew within 100 miles of eachother on a different tune than the other 9900 miles. Had 2000 miles on it with dyno drag race and sled pulls before trying that tune out. I believe dansdieselp wrecked his motor and hydrolocked it from a injector lifting. If you have unlimited money hell yeah get it.

I use them on almost all builds now becuase it is cheap insurance and I have seen too many of them pop out under full load and you can't lift fast enough to keep from hurting something(the head). Money well spent!

Yep. I just finished up all the transmission and trans brake stuff today. I'm going to try to get it to the track in the next couple of weeks and take it to the Diesel Motorsports (formerly NADM) race they're having out this way in March. I'm also going to be at the NHRDA race in Ennis in April. I'm really looking forward to seeing the El Camino in action. You going to have either of your trucks out there?
