The tip of the injector cap looks like it has been overheated by a torch. Under low magnification, there is a blueish color that appears all around the tip of the cap where the fuel outlets are. When the injector was removed, the end was wet with fuel. Fuel consumption has increased. Power is reduced. I noticed some dirty-slime inside the inlet fitting on the injector. Is this typical?
Is that blue discoloration normal?
My friend's truck is a 2004½ and is current on all preventative maintenance. Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

I would think the blue marks are just indications of long exposure to high temperatures. Shouldn't be anything to worry about.
As for the fuel consumption, LB7s are notorious for bad injectors. My fuel consumption skyrocketed and my injectors were plugged big time
